The showpiece features Quetzalcoatl’s creation. Quetzalcoatl is the most important god of the Aztecs and his task is to bring cocoa to the Aztec people. I have made him look quite ferocious, carrying a cocoa pod. His quetzal feathers are brightly coloured in order to portray his symbol and high status. The flowers represent the cocoa, which reflect the mysteries of the Aztecs.
